Dinner and a Movie
With the roaring success of our last movie night, we figured it was time to fire up the popcorn machine again. As an excuse to get together and simply enjoy each other’s company, we’re going to have some great food and watch a great movie, complete with a popcorn machine and jujubes. The dinner is what we make of it; the movie is The Body, a thriller that follows a Jesuit priest sent by the Vatican to Jerusalem to investigate the the dig of an Israeli archaeologist: the ancient remains of a crucified man in a rich man’s tomb. With archaeological facts pointing to the possibility that the body is that of Jesus of Nazareth, the priest’s faith and personal doubts come into constant conflict with the archaeologist’s scientific views. And danger mounts as the finding stirs the political problems between Palestine and Israel in the area, while also shaking the foundations of Christianity itself.
Come join us Friday evening, October 13 starting at 7PM with a potluck dinner to have time to make new friends and reconnect with old ones, then relax and watch the movie with us. Bring a dish or dessert or just yourselves; dress comfortably, bring a beach chair, if you like, or rearrange our pillows, sit right up front and eat some popcorn.
