Dinner and a Movie
It’s been awhile since our last movie night, so it’s high time. As an excuse to get together and simply enjoy each other’s company, we’re going to have some great food and watch a great movie, complete with a popcorn machine and jujubes. The dinner is what we make of it; the movie is Hidalgo–the story of a long distance rider and courier in the 1890s frontier, a half Sioux Indian hiding as a white man so long, he’s lost his identity and his soul. A chance to ride in a 3,000 mile race across the Arabian desert sends him on a hero’s journey in which he finds redemption and identity amidst themes of good, evil, morality, and the clash between Islam and Christianity.
Come join us Friday evening, August 18 starting at 7PM with a potluck dinner to have time to make new friends and reconnect with old ones, then relax and watch the movie with us. Bring a dish or dessert or just yourselves; dress comfortably, bring a beach chair, if you like, or rearrange our pillows, sit right up front and eat some popcorn.
